EVS-dagbok 15, 2012

Hej, And again it is my turn to write the article on the blog. I hope it is not last time, I will write one more article before finishing my EVS, but before that let’s say what happened since my last article. In the beginning of March I went to Stockholm for the midterm training. It was very nice to see the same people from the on-arrival course. During the training we had a chance to present our projects, to talk and discuss about challenges of your EVS and also how to make your EVS better. And of course we once again talked about Youth Pass. Last week of March I took a holiday from my EVS and went to Italy. It was fantastic trip; I visited Pisa, Florence and Sienna. Italy is amazing country especially Toscana region with its beautiful nature, friendly and crazy people, and of course It is a culture center. Most important for me was that I met my younger sister there. It was good feeling to meet a family member after six month. I came back with full of emotions from Italy. 30th of March in Eurodesk office we had “Utvecklingsforum” for volunteers. My mentor Sara organized workshop about Swedish literature, it was full of information and very interesting. Jonas Agdur made presentation about Swedish political system, he talked about Swedish political parties and we also discussed about other issues of Swedish political agenda. Another “Utvecklingsforum” was on 16th of April about Swedish mythology. The presenter was Susanne Löfgren from Fjället, it was very interesting to get to know more about Swedish mythology, but unfortunately we did not have enough time, after that we had a visit of Dina Aziz representative of Egyptian organization “DNB” (Development No Borders). In Eurodesk office she made a presentation about “Arab Spring” and the nowadays political situation in Egypt. Later we moved to Lindhaga youth center where we planned with Dina future cooperation between “DNB” and KEKS for the project which KEKS applied for Anna Lindh Foundation grant. The project is mobile film festival on the topic of human rights. Youngster from Sweden, Egypt, Palestine and Jordan will be able to make short movies by mobile about human rights issues and present it on the Festival in Göteborg. Later will be follow up Youth Exchange project which will take place in Egypt. In April we got the good news from Ungdomsstyrelsen, they informed us that “Skate Groups” Youth Initiative project “SK8 is GR8” got financing. So the “Skate Group of Youngsters” started the preparation. Group ordered materials for renovating the old ramps. On the meetings with “Skate group” we set the dates and from 1st of May we together started to work. Now we already finished built one ramp, many other youngsters started to came and do skateboarding on the new ramp. Soon “Skate Group” will fix all the ramps and later together we will have different activities. So everything is going fine. In the end of the April we finished long selection process of next generation of volunteers, in KEKS Eurodesk and Grevedämmet. For the period of 2012-2013 of “MIYR 5” will be 3 volunteers, two from Romania and one from Macedonia. Big event, “Volunteers show – Cultural Cocktail”, was on 27th of April in 1200 Kvadrat in Frölunda Torg. In January when we had a mentors-volunteers meeting volunteers planned different activities, in the end it was shaped as a show, where the audience saw different performances made by us, KEKS volunteers. The show was consisting with different dancing, singing and video arts. Before the show we had preparation phase started from February. During the weeks we were meeting in “1200 kvadrat”, planning, preparing and rehearsing for the show. During the preparatory phase we had some challenges and difficulties, but in the end we made very good show, everyone was glad and somehow surprised, we got many congratulations. This event showed us that we are good volunteer team, so we had a bit moment of proud. 9th of May was a day of Europe. Cecilia Rignell international coordinator in Mölndals Stad asked us to help organizing the event dedicated for the Europe day. With Cecilia we decided to make a Food exposition from the countries we, volunteers are from. So, on 8th of May we made a food exposition, in the main street of Mölndal and in the City hall. We presented food from Hungary, Italy, Georgia, Belarus, Romania, France, Turkey and Spain. During the exposition we were talking to people, promoting the Europe day and our project as part of Möndals international projects. 11th of May for me and Andreea was day of another trip for “EVS Inspiration Tour” in Marks kommun. We went to very nice high school where we met 30 youngsters and of course we presented “YiA” and “EVS” to them. Youngsters were quite active and showed their interest toward the programs. 15th of May was the deadline for the “Youth in World” application from YiA program. We decided to write the project cooperation with Spain, Sierra Leone and Liberia. We want to organize youth exchange in Sierra Leone in March 2013 “Youth for global health, inclusion and equal rights” and follow up seminar in Spain in July 2013. The topic of the whole project is health, human rights and inclusion. Preparing the application was quite a challenge, we had not enough time and had lack of information from the partners, but finally we did it and sent the application before the end of deadline. We will know the answer in August, so let’s hope that we get financing. I was thinking not to write long article but as you see it’s impossible, despite I tried to make it short, anyway I think it’s enough for now, I’m going, need to prepare for the trip to Paris… Hej då! EVS-dagbok 14, 2012

Hej, Since I arrived I was able to participate in many events. I attended the music festival that took place in Göteborg, then at a film festival or Malmö I have seen many films in English, Swedish, French or Finnish. Ihad also contributed to a creative activity with children or they could create bags, clothes, and various accessories. I also attended a screening of Wall-E with the children. In addition, I have helped the actors of the theatre Alphonse. Since I wrote my first article, all volunteers have participated in the European day. Everyone could cook one or many specialties of our own country and introduce it to the participants. The first part took place in the street with a stand, and the second was in Mölndal's City Hall. It was very interesting to get together and share our different cultures and habits. Last week I also attended two concerts is one who has been given by the group Uncle Jam and the other by students Mimers Hus and an exhibition about the sixties that has occurred has Mimers Hus. I have started classes this week in Swedish so I will better be able to speak with people. We also had a magnificent show composed and created by volunteers, composed of dance, video art and songs too. And now i have one month left to enjoy Sweden and to finish my project. Fouzia Lahmyi

EVS-dagbok 13, 2012

Ciao! Hej! Hallo! After 8 months and a half my Evs is close to the end and soon I will be back to Italy where I will continue my normal life. But with a suitcase always ready to use!!! Before wrapping my stuff, I have many things to do. First of all, I have to finish the survey about gender equality in Keks youth centers. Thanks to this task I learnt how to use excel and how to look inside the data to discover some interesting relations between figures, for example between amount of girls and participation. I tried to understand why girls do not attend the youth centers as much as the boys. This aspect is considered very important, because it is strongly linked to giving everyone the same opportunities. I also think that the survey is an important tool to give the youngster the possibility to express their opinion about the centers. Secondly I have to complete my task in the office (sending e mail, collecting materials etc.) and finish the Italian language course. Finally I would like to enjoy the spring- that finally arrived - and to discover some hidden corners of Goteborg that touristic guides do not consider. On the 9th of May Mölndal Stad celebrated the Europe´s day, so all the volunteers together cooked their traditional dishes. This event gave me the occasion to have a lot of fun and to discover other recipes coming from all Europe! I also would like to use this space to thank everyone, the associations, my mentors Sara and Jonas and all the volunteers that made this period unforgettable. Thank You! Silvia

Hej everybody! I’m very happy that finally the spring has come to Sweden! Even I think that I able to call that the true summer! That is the first what I’m going to talk about! Cause I have left my huge winter and spring clothes and just trying to absorb as much sun as I can! Everything is blooming around me! I wasn’t even thinking that I’ll be so glad for the spring as I’m glad now! So thank very much to Sweden! ;) Now I’m much more appreciating the sun and the heat!  Just hope that this is not for the short period. The second thing what I’m going to talk about is a Youth realities show that we’re presenting last Friday at the Ungdomens Hus 1200 Kvadrat in Frolunda. It was really nice show. I think that everybody liked it very mush. It was a great event for all participants and it was nice live show for the public also! We had prepared the songs, the dances, the films. I think that all volunteers have done very good job! We’re preparing for this show in during the almost 4 months. After so long time we really was feeling ourselves like an one great team which is able to manage with everything on our way to the stage!  We’re going to present the Youth realities show one more time at the city hall in the middle of May. So the last thing what I’m going to talk about is that unfortunately ours projects is going to finish soon and we have to finish the projects which we don’t have done it yet in during the two next month. So I have to finish the UKM film, organize a few football tournaments and finish the song which we started to make with a kids of Balltorp youth centre. Hope that I’ll manage to finish all of these in the time and I’m entreating the weather to help me with a good weather like we have it now!  Evgeni
